WHAT IS SEA MOSS?

Sea moss is a generic name given to a collection of different species of red algae. It is typically known by several different botanical names, most commonly Gracilaria and Chondrus Crispus. The species Gracilaria (pictured above) is used in our Premium Sea Moss Gel and grows abundantly in warmer waters (i.e. the Caribbean Sea, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans). These waters are normally constantly flowing, open ocean currents, and they tend to be much clearer waters too. While Chondrus Crispus is a rarer species by comparison, it tends to grow more slowly in the cooler waters of the Northern Atlantic.

SEA MOSS BENEFITS

Sea Moss, also known as Irish Moss, contains 92 of 102 essential minerals for the human body.  It is an excellent source of iodine, minerals, protein and potassium chloride, a nutrient which helps to dissolve inflammation and phlegm in the mucus membranes, which makes it ideal for respiratory issues.  Other key elements include sulphur compounds, bromine, beta-carotene, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, zinc, pectin, Vitamins C, B, B12, K and A.

Sea Moss is ideal for healthy skin.  The iodine and mineral compounds aid in the body's production of collagen, which plumps the skin, smooths out wrinkles, tones and fights the signs of aging.  It is also great for the thyroid, with the ability to help balance thyroid hormones and reduce inflammation in the body, including inflamed joints.

This natural superfood contains compounds which act as antimicrobial and antiviral agents, helping to boost immunity and remove infections from the body.  It detoxifies the body of heavy metals, pollutants and carcinogens.  It also inhibits the growth of pathogenic viruses, yeast and bacteria.

THE AMAZING BENEFITS OF GINGER

May help to ease digestive discomfort

Ginger tea is probably most well-known for its potential to soothe digestive issues, and in particular for helping ease nausea. One study even suggests it may be just as effective as some medications, but with fewer side effects, in the case of morning sickness.

Anti-inflammatory

Ginger contains key phytonutrients known as gingerols, and research has shown that these can have an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect which, when drunk as a tea, may help support a healthy microbiome.

May help to reduce blood pressure

A 2017 study found that those who consume ginger on a daily basis had a decreased risk of hypertension. While the study didn’t look specifically at ginger tea, it may be useful to consume ginger tea if you have high blood pressure.
